Phew, newborns right? Right!
If I thought I knew exhaustion when Ollie was a newborn, well I knew nothing. That ol’ saying sleep when the baby sleeps really goes out the window when you also have a four year old.
Add in a newfound addiction for completing jobs on AirTasker until midnight, and what you get is very little sleep.
As tired as we are, we are happy. Delirious, but happy.
Oliver started Kindergarten last week. He is still on half days at the moment but he is ABSOLUTELY loving it. Upon picking him up yesterday, a little girl shouted out this is my best friend as she pointed to Oliver. He just sat there with a big grin on his face. He then invited the entire class over for a play, thankfully only one boy joint us.
My social butterfly is in full flight at kindergarten.
Imogen’s reflux seems to have stopped, but we’re only two days in so I don’t want to get ahead of ourselves. But gosh it’s nice.
She sleeps at night, waking for feeds but never for more than 15-20 minutes at a time. Her smile could light up a room, but sitting still is not her thing. She is her brothers sister.
And Oliver is still obsessed with her. He has not once showed any angst towards her, he has tested us for our attention but I think we passed!
James is back at work. He claims he hates it but I think secretly he enjoys peace and quiet.
He comes home and takes Imogen from my arms and plays with Oliver whilst I take a deep, much needed, breath.
And, whilst he is super Dad, he does it because he enjoys it. The love he has for our babies is just amazing.
And me? I’ve been picking up a few jobs here and there to keep my mind in the ‘game’. It’s definitely not to keep myself busy, I am busy enough. It’s to keep myself me.
I’ve also started a mothers group for Mums who didn’t get a group. We meet weekly, and they are such a great group of ladies and kids. And met heaps of Mums through Oliver’s Kindy. For the first time since living in Sydney, I feel like I am really starting to find my Mummy tribe.
And in my spare time I’ve been trying to de-clutter our house. Boy, we sure own a lot of shit!
It sure is hectic around the patch, but it is glorious!
What have you been up to lately?
